Be fully committed to your next task

What if you spent the next few minutes fully engaged in the task you need to complete?

Yes, even the one that you are not excited about.

I recently learned about this way of approaching tasks from the Waking Up app in which Sam Harris shares ways of bringing clarity into our daily lives. What I love about this particular tip is that it helped me wake up from going through the day on auto-drive and broke me out of focusing on just getting the task done quickly. It helped me change my perspective and helped me give 100% to the task I was doing. Once I gave it my full attention and effort, I felt like I was in the zone and I was now having fun instead of just getting by.

It’s amazing what a small change in perspective can do for our mindset. The next time you feel like you’re moving on auto through an activity, take a moment to fully commit to the task and give it all by doing the best you can.
