13. How to become a W.H.O.L.E life C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N with Paul Richmond

In this episode, I talk with Paul Richmond, the teacher, and coach you wish you had in high school. Paul is a high school teacher, coach, author, and podcast host.  We talk about the Mindset Identifier, a chart Paul has created to help us show up with the right mindset. We all go through bad days but can decide to change our mindset to make sure we show up as C.H.A.M.P.I.O.Ns. Paul walks us through the chart and explains each mindset from Whiner, Toxic, Dreamer, and Champion. The chart is handy to have because it helps us check our mindset as well as for the people around us to see who we are being influenced by. There are a lot of mindset nuggets in this episode, so you don't want to miss it. :)

Episode Transcript

Life's a pot of boiling hot water, and you either are a carrot an egg or a coffee bean. And when carrots get thrown into the pot of boiling water, they become real soft, right? They let the environment change, who they are, eggs, their insides change, and they become all hardened to what's going on.

But a coffee bean stays the same and changes the color of the water. It's the goofiest little fable. They tell a story I remind that to myself and my family, my daughters, my, my students, my athletes, anytime something doesn't go our way, all we can really do is be the champion we need to be, and then change the environment around us as best we can.

And I'm not saying I can solve global politics because of this mindset, but, but, but that's the whole point I can't, so I can just change myself and how I interact.
